Perfume contains CMR, phthalate and/or vanillin: Is it dangerous ?

Is a fragrance without CMR less dangerous?

CMR stands for (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic and Reprotoxic Substances), the indication of a presence of CMR in products is regulated and its display is mandatory based on thresholds and its category. Our fragrances are concentrates, due to the concentration, the thresholds are sometimes reached. We start from a threshold of 0.1% to 3.3% for our formulas, which remains low.

Given that our fragrances are composed on a base of natural substances, it is not uncommon to find CMR in their compositions. CMRs often play a role in the olfactory rendering of certain fragrances and completely removing them would only diminish the quality of the fragrances and their rendering.

Also, when CMRs appear on the Safety Data Sheets, take into account that this is the proportion of the raw product, i.e. the percentage of CMR in relation to the total quantity of the fragrance and it alone. Generally, the dosage in a scented candle is 10% fragrance, diluted in 90% wax, which further minimizes the risk of any potential substances in your finished product.

It can also be found in pool chlorine or in barbecued meat.

Note that some organic essential oils emit a lot of CMRs into the air when heated. Simply remember that a natural product does not mean it is safe!

It must be taken into consideration that a fragrance contains CMRs but this does not significantly threaten your health.

    Phthalates in your scents

Phthalates, or more specifically "Diethyl Phthalate", may sometimes be present in our formulas. This type of phthalate is not considered dangerous or at risk by current regulations. "Diethyl Phthalate" is regularly used in the cosmetics industry, and can be found in lip gloss or eye liners.

It is also Diethyl phthalate that is found in some fragrances (it allows for some fluidity in the liquid). Not to be confused with some phthalates that are banned in France in the toy industry, for example, toys "Made in China" often still contain them, so be aware...

    Vanillin in fragrances

Vanillin is a delicious aromatic substance that can be found in vanilla pods or produced synthetically to imitate the taste of natural vanilla. It is a highly appreciated ingredient for enhancing the flavors of various products, such as perfumes.

It is important to know that vanillin is the most widely used flavor in the world, with an annual production of up to 15,000 tons. You can find it in many delicious foods, such as ice cream, yogurt, cookies and candies, and even in some medications.

Is your perfume natural or synthetic?

Like the cosmetic perfumes of the major brands, our quality fragrances are developed from often noble, natural and/or synthetic raw materials. The job of the nose is a true art combining creativity and chemistry. You should know that our perfumers have an average of 4500 raw materials at their disposal and that the olfactory possibilities offered to them are almost unlimited...

Why are there labels and logos on your fragrances?

We sell professional perfume concentrates, which are produced exclusively in France and therefore comply with the CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Chemicals and their mixtures) standards. These logos and mentions can be found on many products, even the labelling of your dishwasher soap. This is a legal obligation that we scrupulously respect.

See our safety and cosmetic data sheets at the bottom of the page.
If you have any questions, we are at your disposal

How do I keep my fragrance?

A perfume should be stored in a dark place and at room temperature (20°C).
Under these conditions you can keep your oil for a maximum of 24 months.
If the perfume crystallizes, it should simply be heated to 30°C maximum.

I often order a perfume, but this one seems to have a different shade now, why?

Our fragrances are made from natural raw materials

For example, jasmine oil can have a different hue depending on the geography of the harvest and the season. This is the difference between a natural perfume with synthetic processes and a 100% synthetic perfume...
