The different types of mold

Candle molds come in a variety of materials, each of which has an impact on the quality and craftsmanship of the candles. These include:

• Polycarbonate molds : heat resistant (up to 120°C) and transparent, ideal for colored candles.
• Aluminum molds : very resistant to high temperatures, perfect for waxes requiring a lot of heat.
• Latex molds : suitable for original candle shapes, not recommended for use with stearin.
• Silicone molds : high-end molds, to be used with beeswax or rapeseed wax, very easy to remove from the mold.

How to use them in your candles?

Candle molds are used differently depending on the shape of the candle. There are two main methods:

• “Container” molds, for classic shapes where the wax is simply poured into the container and the candle can be used as is once cooled.
• “Closed” molds where the wax, once poured and hardened, must be completely demolded to be used.
