We often hear about CMR (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic and Reprotoxic Substances) but should we be worried?
Our perfumes are concentrates, which means that CMR thresholds are sometimes reached (from 0.1% to 3.3%) . But don't worry, these levels remain low!
As our fragrances are based on natural substances, it is common to find CMRs in their composition. They usually have a role to play in the smell of certain perfumes, and removing them completely would diminish the quality of the fragrances.
Also remember that when we talk about CMR in the Safety Data Sheets (SDS), we are talking about the proportion in the raw product, therefore the percentage of CMR compared to the total quantity of fragrance . In general, a scented candle contains 10% fragrance and 90% wax, which further minimizes the rate of potentially risky substances.
CMRs are found in other common products , such as chlorine in swimming pools or barbecued meat . Be careful, some organic essential oils release a lot of CMRs when heated! A natural product is not necessarily safe.
Phthalate, or more precisely in our case ethyl phthalate , is sometimes present in our formulas. This phthalate is not classified as dangerous according to current regulations and is commonly used in cosmetics (gloss, eyeliner, etc.). It should not be confused with other phthalates banned in France in the toy industry (hello, "Made in China" toys).
