What is mica used for in homemade creations?

Natural mica is a mineral pigment made of powders with pearly colours, allowing you to tint a scented wax melt, a soap or a cosmetic. Micas are natural colourants, very easy to use, that bring a pearly or shimmering glow to your creations.

Possible uses for natural mica powder

For making your scented wax melts

Dosage between 5 to 10 g per 100 grams of wax. Ideal for moulded melts (Clamshell patterns, decorative shapes), where mica fully reveals its pearly effect.

For your soaps and cosmetic creations

Why mica is not suited to candles

Mica is a mineral pigment that does not dissolve in wax: added to a candle, it saturates the matter, settles at the bottom of the mould and clogs the wick, disrupting the burn and potentially generating smoke. To colour your candles, opt for our liquid dyes or Bekro granular dyes, specifically formulated for this use.

Our micas are environmentally friendly

Our micas from the Terre de Bougies store do not come from the Asian continent. They are certified free of nanomaterials and allergenic substances, and meet all the standards classifying our products as "Non-Hazardous" under current European norms. Moreover, these mica powders are not tested on animals.
