The creations of our artisans
What is mica used for in my homemade creations?
Natural mica is a mineral dye composed of pigmented products, allowing you to tint a candle, a fondant or a cosmetic . Micas are natural dyes very easy to use for coloring.
Possible uses of natural mica powder
In a molded or scented candle
It is possible to use mica powder to decorate the surface of your candles, creating a shimmering effect. However, we do not recommend using mica incorporated into your candle wax.
While this is not a concern for soap or melt making, it could affect the burn of your candle and clog the wick. If you mix the powder with molded wax, an uneven deposit could form at the bottom of the mold and result in an uneven surface finish.
If you still want to try, be careful not to exceed 2-3g of mica per 100g of wax . Applying mica to the surface will not affect the performance of the candle.
For the creation of your scented fondants
Dosage between 5 to 10 g per 100 grams .
