Melt and Pour, or “melt and pour”, is a method of making solid soaps that stands out for its simplicity. It relies on a ready-to-use soap base that you simply melt and then pour into a mould. This soap-making method avoids tricky handling such as the use of caustic soda, while leaving plenty of creative freedom.
The main advantage of Melt and Pour lies in its accessibility. Beginners and keen soap makers alike easily create personalised soaps by adding oils, butters, dyes or fragrances. It is a quick, safe and creative alternative to traditional saponification, for a stable solid soap that is pleasant to use every day.
Our Melt and Pour bases come in several versions suited to every need: enriched with nourishing butters, transparent for coloured soaps, or specially formulated for sensitive skin. They let you make much more than simple soaps: scrubs, solid shampoos, shaving foams or exfoliating products.
As with any cosmetic product, a few precautions are necessary. Store your bases in a cool, dry place, ideally in their original packaging to protect them from moisture. Their shelf life is between 12 and 18 months. Before any sale, you must comply with European cosmetic regulations and compile a Product Information File (PIF).
The Melt and Pour bases available on the market comply with the regulations in force and contain neither substances considered hazardous nor endocrine disruptors. For professional use, we recommend consulting a toxicologist to check that your formulas comply and to ensure the safety of your creations.
Adopted by many makers, the Melt and Pour method is the ideal gateway into the world of artisan soap making. It combines simplicity, speed and creative freedom, while delivering a quality finished soap. Whether beginner or experienced, you will create unique solid soaps tailored to your tastes.
