Polished concrete: attractive but demanding
Polished concrete is, first and foremost, a decorative finish applied to existing surfaces (floors, walls, worktops). It requires genuine expertise to be applied correctly and needs regular maintenance. Unlike Jesmonite, it cannot be moulded and is difficult to use for creating objects by hand.
Resin: precise but restrictive
Epoxy resin offers a very smooth and glossy finish, prized for works of art or translucent surfaces. However, it contains chemical solvents, gives off toxic fumes and requires suitable protective equipment. Its use is not recommended in confined spaces and is not particularly compatible with an eco-friendly approach.

An easy-to-work-with resin, with rapid demoulding (20–30 mins) and a smooth finish that’s highly customisable (pigments, terrazzo-style inclusions). Ideal for getting started or for regular production. We recommend this range for beginners.
Restriction: indoor use only.
AC84 – The versatile all-rounder
An intermediate-grade resin, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, with good resistance to impact, moisture and UV rays. The finish can be smooth or have a mineral-like appearance, depending on the treatment applied.
Restriction: requires a little more skill and patience (demoulding takes ~2 hours) than an AC100.
AC730 – For exceptional pieces
The most durable in the range, designed for intensive outdoor use and an authentic mineral finish (stone or concrete effect). We recommend this range for intermediate and experienced creators.
Limitations: limited customisation; pre-mixed pigments to preserve the mineral-like finish; and a more technical application process (demoulding takes ~4 hours).

Is Jesmonite suitable for making candles?
Would you like to make your own Jesmonite candle holders? Good news, it’s entirely possible, andall three ranges we offer are suitable for this purpose!
However, please note that the material is porous and must therefore be protected with a suitable finish. You can apply Jesmonite acrylic varnish, available in a matt or gloss finish. It is recommended that you leave your container to dry for at least 48 hours before use to ensure it is fully heat-resistant.
Every creation intended to hold a candle must undergo burn tests before it is sold!
