Delicate, fragrant and resolutely decorative, hanging flowers are an ideal alternative to traditional candles for scenting small spaces. Slipped into a dressing room, hung from a door handle or placed in a chest of drawers, they subtly diffuse their fragrance while adding a romantic, hand-crafted touch.
For Valentine's Day, this version adorned with small pink and white wax flowers transforms a simple DIY creation into a truly thoughtful gift idea, in the spirit of the scented wax flower bouquet that we love to give or give ourselves. Easy to make, easy on materials and fully customisable, these scented hangers are accessible to everyone, even beginners. And as an added bonus, once their fragrance has faded, they can be recycled as melt-in-the-mouth perfume burners.
The ingredients you'll need to make your own floral hangers
For this special Valentine's Day recipe, you'll need just a few ingredients, carefully chosen to ensure a beautiful finish and optimum fragrance diffusion.

What you'll need
- a scented hanging basket mould
- a mould for small flowers
- olive wax for moulded candles and fondants
- a candle fragrance, in this case Yummy Pink
- a colouring agent, in this case light pink granules
- a heat-resistant beaker
- a pipette for precise work
This base can then be enriched as you wish, playing with colours, shapes or even fragrance combinations to create unique hangers.
Why choose Kerax olive wax for your scented hanging baskets?
Olive wax is particularly recommended for making scented hanging baskets and pebbles. It gives a smooth, shiny, even finish, without mottling or crystallisation, which is essential for decorative creations. It fixes the fragrance perfectly, guaranteeing gentle, long-lasting diffusion in enclosed spaces.
Combined with silicone moulds, it is easy to remove from the mould and gives a neat result, ideal for creations intended as gifts.
Choosing the fragrance and colourant
To scent your suspensions, use only fragrances designed for candles and fondants. Yummy Pink is a sweet and tender fragrance, perfectly suited to the world of Valentine's Day. Adjust the dosage according to the desired strength and concentration of your fragrance.
In terms of colour, the pink dye underlines the floral and romantic side of the creation. Added in small quantities to the wax for the flowers, it creates an elegant contrast with the white flowers left natural.
Step-by-step recipe for scented floral wax pendants
Preparing the base of the pendant
- Melt the moulded olive wax gradually until it reaches around 80°C.
- When the wax is completely liquid and homogeneous, add 10% of the fragrance, the recommended dosage for scented suspensions.
- Stir gently with regular movements to ensure even distribution of the fragrance in the wax.
- When the wax reaches a temperature close to 75°C, add the granulated colourant and mix carefully until it has dissolved completely. For a soft, light shade, use between 0.1% and 0.2%, or 1 to 2 g per kilo of wax. For a more intense colour, increase the dosage to between 0.3% and 0.5%, i.e. 3 to 5 g per kilo of wax.
- Pour the scented preparation into the suspension mould, then leave to cool at room temperature until completely solid.

Creating the scented wax flowers
While the suspension is resting, prepare the decorative elements.
- Melt a small quantity of olive wax at up to 80°C, then add the fragrance in a proportion of 10%. If you're using a granulated colourant for pink flowers, make sure you keep the wax at this temperature to ensure the colourant dissolves perfectly.
- Divide the mixture if necessary. Stir the pink colouring into some of the wax, then gently fill a few cavities in the flower mould using a pipette.
- For the other flowers, use only a mixture of wax and perfume to obtain white flowers. Leave to cool completely before carefully removing from the mould.

Assembling and decorating
Once all the pieces have been removed from the mould, move on to assembly.
- Melt a small amount of wax, which you can leave slightly thicker.
- Apply a small amount to the back of each flower, then attach them to the surface of the scented suspension as you see fit, playing with shapes and colour contrasts.

Finishing and drying
Leave to dry for a final time at room temperature so that the flowers adhere perfectly to the hanging piece. Your scented floral hanging decoration is now ready to use, hang or give as a gift!

Personalisation and creative ideas
This recipe is an ideal basis for giving free rein to your creativity. You can vary the shapes of the flowers, play with different shades of pink, add decorative mini fondants or combine several fragrances to create truly themed collections. In this way, each hanging decoration becomes a unique piece, both decorative and olfactory, conceived as a small objet d'ambiance in its own right.
Conservation advice
To preserve the visual beauty and intense fragrance of your hanging flowers, store them away from heat, direct light and humidity. We recommend that you wrap them individually and avoid mixing several scents together to avoid altering their olfactory signature.
Giving your hanging fragrances a second life
When the fragrance begins to fade, your hanging baskets can easily be transformed into scented fondants. Simply remove the decorative elements or check that they are compatible with heating, then melt them in a perfume burner to enjoy their fragrance one last time.
