TCR wicks for container candles mounted on holders

TCR waxed wicks are designed for container and moulded candles. Their 100% natural cotton braided structure with paper reinforcement ensures a stable and even burn. They are coated with a natural wax blend based on soya wax, which facilitates ignition and improves flame retention as the candle burns.

Lead-free, nylon-free and with no metal core, these candle wicks are just as suitable for craft creations as they are for more technical products. They are compatible with a wide range of formulations based on vegetable, animal or blended waxes, depending on the tests carried out.

How do I choose the right size candle wick?

The choice of wick size depends on the diameter of the container used, the fragrance dosage and the presence of any colourants.

The more fragrance, colouring or dense vegetable wax a candle contains, the larger the wick size may need to be. In this case, you should choose one or two sizes larger than those shown in our table.

Please note that our correspondence table is based on creations without added fragrance or colouring.

The diameters of our containers are indicated in the technical details of the product sheets.

• Wick too small = tunnel effect or flame extinction.
• A wick that is too large = excessive flame, smoke or overheating of the container.
• A suitable wick = melts the wax over the entire diameter with a height of 10 mm (pool).

Combustion tests are still essential to determine which candle wick is best suited to your formulation.

Our advice on using TCR wicks

To attach your coated wick to the holder, pour about 2 mm of liquid wax into the bottom of the container and then immediately place the wick in the centre. After about 15 seconds, the wick will be held securely in the wax.

You can also use a self-adhesive tablet or a special sticky wax to make positioning easier.

After pouring, leave about 7 mm of wick visible on the surface of the candle.

Before each lighting, cut the wick to about 5 mm to ensure a clean, even burn. Avoid draughts and light the first wick long enough to melt the surface evenly.

For large containers, several wicks may be needed to ensure even combustion.

For moulded candles, TCR wicks on a support can be used with an adapted technique. Place a nail or thin rod in the centre of the mould before casting to create a passage for the wick. Once the candle has cooled and been removed from the mould, remove the nail and insert the supported wick into the opening. Make sure it is centred and straight to ensure even burning.
