Granular dye dosage: the right ratio

For poured candles

Plan on average 3 to 5 g of granular dye per 1 kg of wax. The range depends on the intensity wanted and the shade chosen: a pearly white requires less pigment than a deep black. Add the granules to the melted wax between 70 and 80°C, stir gently for 1 to 2 minutes until full dissolution, then pour.

For scented wax melts

The dosage stays comparable, but can be raised slightly (up to 6-7 g/kg) to compensate for the wax melt's more opaque texture. A more intense colour does justice to detailed moulded pieces (Clamshell patterns, decorative shapes).

Palette: from classic to fluorescent
