Round cotton wicks for garden candles are designed for outdoor use in garden candles, torches and paraffin or oil lamps. Made from unbleached cellulose fibres, they are distinguished by their natural yellowish-brown appearance and their ability to absorb and carry liquid fuels efficiently.
Can only be used outdoors with paraffin candles.
The width of the wick should correspond to the opening of the reservoir or burner of your garden lamp or candle. A wick that's too thin won't capture enough fuel; one that's too wide will be difficult to insert and could obstruct the passage.
To create cast candles, dip your wick into the melted wax and leave to dry. Do this 1 or 2 more times. Then, when the wick is dry, thread it into a round wick holder with a hole and tighten the holder with flat-nose pliers.
To create oil lamps, torches or garden candles, insert the wick into the reservoir, leaving 1 to 2 cm protruding from the side of the flame. Before lighting for the first time, allow the wick to soak in the fuel for a few minutes to facilitate ignition and prevent dry burning.
Before use, keep the wick away from any source of ignition during the impregnation phase.
Use your lamps and torches in a well-ventilated area away from strong winds that could destabilise the flame.
After each use, carefully extinguish the flame and wait for it to cool completely before handling the container. Store your stock of wicks in a dry place away from humidity.
