"My name is Patricia, I am the creator and founder of Miaou Candle in Geneva.
I decided to get into candle making for several reasons. First of all, it's something creative and beautiful. A candle is an object that brings light, that brings comfort in winter and even on summer evenings. For me, what's important is to create a candle made from healthy products."
What made you want to offer an alternative to industrial candles?
"I noticed that the candles sold in supermarkets, mostly paraffin-based or with synthetic fragrances, did not correspond at all to my values and what I was looking for. I absolutely wanted to favor high-quality products. That's why I turned to soy wax, to perfumes from Grasse which are made from natural aromas.
I buy most of my fragrances from Terre de Bougies, and every product in my candle is carefully considered. The wicks are lead-free cotton, and I thought there would definitely be other people for whom these things would be extremely important."
What were your main challenges with candle labeling and how did Avery help you overcome them?
“Becoming a professional candle maker also means complying with strict European labeling standards, including safety labels. Thanks to Avery, I was able to make creating this part easier, which is tedious and laborious.
Candle labeling is very important. It's the first thing a customer will look at when they pick up your product. For me, the challenge was finding a compromise between meeting mandatory labeling standards and maintaining the aesthetics of a candle."
So why Meow Candle?
"Because the idea is that a cat lying next to you and a candle is the ultimate cocooning mode! And also because at least everyone remembers Meow. It's simple."
What brings you the most satisfaction in your work as a candle maker?
"What I like most is the contact with customers. Because we create a connection. People come back because they are happy with the product. People also come back because they are happy to see me. I can create anything, it's infinite. If I could create all the ideas that come to me, it would take me, I think, my whole life, because I constantly have new ideas!"
