Materials and ingredients required

To make this two-tone chantilly Easter candle, prepare :

  • A clear glass candle container, in this case 200 mL
  • TCR 30/18 or 33/18 wick, depending on the fragrance and colouring load
  • Olive wax for cast candles, approx. 200 g
  • Olive wax for moulded candles, approx. 60 g
  • Silicone "bows and flowers" mould
  • Fragrance of your choice, here Garden Flower
  • Light pink granulated dye
  • Liquid yellow dye
  • White colouring granules to soften shades
  • Pastry bag and tip
  • Spatula
  • Two separate containers
  • Hand or electric whisk, ideally one for each container
  • Beaker

Making the decorative wax fondants with bows and flowers

  1. Melt the olive wax for moulded candles at 80°C.
  2. Add the fragrance when the wax reaches 75°C, then stir carefully to ensure even diffusion.
  3. Add colouring if desired:
    - Liquid colourant: at around 70 °C
    - Granular colour : at around 75°C
For a bright, pastel finish, add a touch of white granules.
  4. Pour into the "knots and flowers" mould and leave to harden completely before carefully removing from the mould.
  5. Reserve the decorations for final assembly.

Preparing the two-tone pastel whipped cream

The wax whipped cream is the signature element of this candle. It adds volume, texture and a much-appreciated gourmand effect.

  1. Melt the olive wax for cast candles at 80°C.
  2. Add the fragrance at 75°C and stir for 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Divide the scented wax between two separate containers, ideally in equal proportions.

  4. In the first container, add the liquid yellow colourant at around 70°C.
  5. In the second, add the light pink granular colourant at around 75°C.
  6. To soften the colours, add a dash of white granules to each preparation.

Whipping the whipped cream

  1. Leave the wax to cool until it starts to become opaque.
  2. Then whip each preparation separately until you obtain an airy, thick and stable texture. For a clean result and distinct colours, use one whisk per container.

Staining the two-tone whipped cream

As soon as the texture is firm but still supple, proceed immediately to poaching.

  1. Using a spatula, place the pink whipped cream on one side of the piping bag.
  2. Add the yellow whipped cream on the other side to create the two-tone effect.
  3. Pipe into the container using a regular motion to achieve a harmonious result.

Add the decorative bows

Gently place the scented bows on the still soft whipped cream so that they adhere well to the surface. Leave to rest for several hours before handling or lighting.

Tips for a professional finish

  • Gradually adjust the intensity of the colouring to control the pastel hue.
  • Avoid overloading the decorative surface so as not to interfere with the flame.
  • Always carry out burn tests if the candle is to be sold.
