Easy to use, the solid base allows extensive personalisation to colour and scent your soaps with fragrance oils or active ingredients. Melt your base, add a fragrance oil, dyes or active ingredients, then pour everything into moulds designed for the purpose. You will obtain gentle, moisturising soaps, perfect for everyday use.
The liquid base is made from saponified oils and stays soft, without hardening. Hot-process saponification gives the desired result, although some fragrances may alter its appearance.
Saponification is a chemical reaction between a fatty substance (plant-based or animal butter) and an alkali or strong base. Soda is used for solid soaps, whereas potash is used for liquid soaps.
Eco-friendly and requiring little energy, cold-process saponification causes no pollution and produces naturally moisturising soaps. This technique involves mixing the fatty substances and the base at room temperature. After mixing and moulding, you must wait 48 hours for the oils to turn into soap and glycerine. The resulting soaps are gentle and suited to all skin types.
An age-old method used to make Marseille or Aleppo soaps, hot-process saponification involves cooking the soap paste at a high temperature to speed up the reaction. This technique produces a hard soap with a short drying phase, while preserving the moisturising properties of the added ingredients.
